Who is Usher?
Usher rose to fame in the late 1990s with the release of his second album My Way, which spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit, "Nice & Slow". His follow-up album, 8701, produced the Billboard Hot 100 number one hits "U Remind Me" and "U Got It Bad". Both albums sold over 8 million copies worldwide, establishing Usher as one of the best-selling R&B artists of the 1990s.
Usher's success continued with his 2004 album Confessions, which sold over 10 million copies in the United States, and been certified diamond by the RIAA. Confessions has the highest first week sales for an R&B artist in history, and sold over 20 million copies worldwide. It spawned a record breaking four consecutive Billboard number-one hits—"Yeah!", "Burn", "Confessions Part II", and "My Boo". Usher's 2008 album Here I Stand sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and its lead single "Love In This Club" peaked at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100.

ReplyDeleteAll the South Africans were waiting with anticipation for this
ReplyDeleteoutrageous show that took place in Soweto were our history was made.Indeed it was a great show.
usher is such a great artist an dhaving him around was awsumness
ReplyDeleteI hope our local artists are learning something to these overseas artists.they take music as a business not 'just' a talent, they are responsive on what they're producing (quality music), if our artist can do the same...they are going to have successed like them.
ReplyDeleteAt Chellas He is hey,i can't wait for his next performence here in South Africa.
ReplyDeleteAt Mto, I hope local artist learn because if they don't they will end up without any fans. And a good point there about taking music as a business.I think the are many ways to make money or make a living so,some artist are surviving because of the money they make.
His coming to SA painted a good image about celebrities from outside countries because he did not mind to visit different townships such as Tembisa,to see how celebrities(such as DJ Sbu) in SA survived to be where they are today
ReplyDeleteThat was a good thing, that he went to townships. The South African artist must take some advice from Him.He is so humble.
ReplyDeleteThe event was well planned and a large number of supporters was there and that means our country gained something from that, example money, but the question is what are they going to do with that money that is going to benefit us as South Africans?
ReplyDeleteSaloma it was an event of the moment, nobody was suppose to miss the event but anfortunately it was not possible for some of us,because of school work. And yes the Country has gained from this because people from other countries were here to be entertained.Even the department of tourism has gained some cash, which is a good thing to consider about this event.
Deleteusher is a legent no doubt about that, but we should promote local artists.
ReplyDeleteSA Pride,i agree with you.Yes Yes Yes we should promote, appriciate and value our local artist alot, because they represent South Africa when they are out there. So we must be proud of them.Thank you for the comment because it has brought new ideas to us.Thanx
